Overview
I make bold illustrations for books that deal with the abstract. Love, spirituality, identity, joy, belonging; these are some of the themes I do best.
A little about me:
My name is Tess. I'm a Filipino-British illustrator currently based in Brooklyn, New York. I graduated with honors from Ringling College of Art and Design, and have since been working as a freelance illustrator, helping my clients tell their story through all sorts of avenues: advertising, animation, and yes, book design.
My philosophy:
Dieter Rams put it best — Less, but better. I work with clients to distill their story into its essence. I make modern designs that grab people's attention, and I always make sure there's heart.
What I need from you:
I'm not a good fit for everyone. I work best with folks who:
- have a finished manuscript
- know the dimensions they want for their book
Bonus points if you've got your text already laid out, but depending on the project, it's not always necessary. Reach out if you're not sure.
I can work with you to design your cover and/or your interior illustrations. Please note: I do not design book interiors (laying out your text). I have the software to do it, and could probably figure it out, but if this book is your baby you'll want to leave it to a professional interior book designer.
If you love bold visuals, and themes of love, joy, and the unseen world, let's talk and see if we can make something great together!
